The Reach Systems Croc Smart Winches are durable, configurable cable-management systems designed for ROVs, robotic systems, sonar equipment, cameras, sensors, and other remotely operated marine applications.
Originally developed for deploying ROVs and sensors from Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs), Croc Smart Winches are well suited for portable and remote applications using a small-diameter tether. Motorized payout and retrieval are available, along with an optional handheld pendant for local control.
Built-in web-based control allows operators to manage winch functions through a standard network using an intuitive interface. For more advanced applications, an available programming API allows winch functions to be customized or automated and integrated directly into ROV, USV, robotic, sonar, or sensor control software.
All Croc Smart Winches include a cable counter for measuring deployment distance and supporting accurate “go to” commands.
The Croc Mini is the smallest and most portable configuration. Designed for small-diameter tether applications, it can be configured for manual or smart motorized operation and is compact enough for convenient transport.
The standard Croc provides increased cable capacity while maintaining a relatively compact, transportable design. It can be configured with motorized operation, level wind, distance counting, and other options for a wide range of remote-system applications.
The Croc XL is the largest configuration, providing substantial cable capacity while remaining portable enough for transport with an ROV, sonar, or other marine system.
Standard specifications include an 8-conductor, 28 AWG, 240 VDC/AC slip ring, with options available for higher voltage, additional conductors, fiber optics, and other application requirements.
