Burnwires
Global Ocean Design Burnwires (REL-238) are designed for seawater release applications, including releasing anchor weights, closing Niskin bottles or baited traps, releasing floats or drop arms, and closing valves.
The REL-238 holds a static load of up to 250 lbs until a 10–24 VDC voltage is applied. Using seawater as a conductor, the burnwire galvanically corrodes to initiate release. Typical release time is approximately 6–15 minutes, depending largely on environmental conditions, particularly water temperature.
Each Burnwire includes a SubConn ILM1M pigtail with locking sleeve and 316 stainless steel shackle for use with the Global Ocean Design Burnwire Mount, sold separately.
